In the UK, numbers that start with 090 are Premium Rate Numbers and as such, designated for the provision of Premium Rate Services (PRS) - subscriber services, charged to the callers' telephone bills. Such services include TV votelines, scratch-cards, technical helplines, chat, mobile phone ringtones and logo downloads, horoscopes, competitions and interactive TV games.

Employment information, business opportunity services and betting tipster services are also available by dialing 090 numbers.
