License private investigators all over the county are up in arms over all the reverse phone number lookup websites and reverse cell phone number lookup websites. Private investigation association and their members want these websites shut down, and they want them shut down now.

In this article I am going to let you in on a secret that my colleagues in the private investigation industry have been unfairly guarding for years. I am also going to share a secret with you used by private investigators to verify that the information you get from a reverse phone number lookup website is correct and up to date. Just promise that you didn't hear it from me.

With the explosion of phone and cell phone technology and the number of people using them, it was only a matter of time until companies were able to access subscriber information, and build profitable businesses selling the information to private investigators and law enforcement agencies worldwide. up until recently, you had to be in law enforcement or a licensed private investigator to gain access to this information.

Private investigators have been guarding these websites because they were charging up to $200 for the same reverse phone number searches you can now easily do yourself in five minutes for around $14. You can use the exact same websites we use to conduct these reverse phone number searches.

Now do you see why private investigators are so angry that these reverse phone number lookup website have decided to make their services available to the general public?

Not all reverse phone number websites are created equally. In other words, some are better than others. Cheaper is not always better, especially when its only seven or eight dollars cheaper. I'd rather spend $14 once, than spending $8 three times, wouldn't you?

I have listed my favorite reverse phone number lookup websites (or data brokers as we call them) at the bottom of this article. They are the very same database I use when conducting everything from skip tracing investigations to "cold case" homicide investigations the police gave up on. At the beginning of this article I promised to let you in on a little secret us licensed private investigator types use to verify the information we get from a reverse phone or reverse cell phone number search.

Remember, you promised not to tell anyone I let you in on this little "investigative technique". It goes like this: Once you get the subscriber's name and address, call the number from a payphone or from a phone other than your own. Make sure you dial *67 before you dial the number. This will disable the phone you are calling caller ID feature.

When the person you're calling answers, say "Hello (use the person's first name - if its wrong he or she probably tell you) I am calling from (pick a local pizza place that delivers) and ask if they would like a coupon for a free pizza if they answer three quick questions. Most people will not turn down a free pizza. I wouldn't.

Ask them if they have ever ordered pizza from "us" within the last three months using the number you called. Then ask them how many times per month they order. Your final question, and this is important, what is your favorite pizza topping. Actually you won't really care because you're not really going to send them a coupon.

Before you hang up make sure you ask them for the name and address so you can "rush" their coupon right out to them. Bingo! You just verified that the information you obtained from your reverse phone number look is correct and up to date. Pretty easy, don't you agree?
