Freedom is a primary necessity! Be it a small child or a teenager or a tiny pet dog or a bird, everyone loves to live freely. In case of using mobile phones also a certain amount of freedom is expected by users. May be because of the freeness associated with SIM free phones majority of the youngsters and users prefer going for such type of phones.
As evident the number of mobile phone users is increasing day by day. The increasing popularity of mobile phones is not confined to a particular country or a particular age, but the young and the old, Britons to Americans all are sailing in the same boat. In fact, there are instances of people having more than one phone and in certain cases members of the same family may account for multiple mobile phone connections, because of their necessity or convenience.
On the reverse side, lucrative deals and campaigning in favour of mobile phones are also contributing a lot to the surge of phones in such a speed. Other phone deals like 12 month free line rental is no doubt very beneficial as it includes some of the appealing incentives like free handsets, free talk time and free texts. But at the same time people have to remain bound to the contract for certain period and even if he wants to switch off, a lot of legalities are involved.
Now come to the infrequent users who don’t use his mobile phone that much. For him an equation like 12 month free line rental may not work out. So for him a best option can be a SIM free phone. Also since you are not bound to any network provider, if you are dissatisfied with your existing Network you can easily switch on to another network service provider which can meet all your needs as well as stand at par with your pockets.
No doubt, you may not get a free handset if you buy sim free phones. But, it is likely that you would get an unlocked SIM free phone in an affordable price. Moreover, in case of SIM free phones you are not tied to any contracts, you can keep trace about your phone usage and since there are no monthly or yearly commitments you are free to make your own choice. And who knows you might get a much better bargain than buying a phone with contract deals!

By: Mike | 01-09-2008
I have Verizon phone service in my house (using Panasonic phones) and I am having a problem. Whenever a friend would call my house from his home it would come up on the caller id as Out of Area and he tells me that he did press *82 (I have a private #). When he would call from his cell phone (Verizon) the same thing happens out of area. Is there something wrong with the service or the phone?
