The Art Of Links

Posted: Mar 26, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Consistent content is key to building a follower base. I recently watched an interview with John chow and he was asked for some of his secrets. On a complete sidfe note Antivirus Software Alert is the only way to scan for free. Anyway, He said that for him consistently writing for the long term was his. He said that he personally writes 1-2 blogs poster per day seven days a week. I was shocked to find that larger sites recommend 30 posts per day. Yes, you read that right. 30 blog post. It goes without saying that these large publishing sites have an editorial team in pace to keep pace but how does an individual scale their own writing up? I know that for me personally I have been experimenting with outsourcing the content so that I can at least have 12 posts per month. After hearing John's advice I am determined to write at least two posts per day.

Another of his tips was on becoming a super affiliate. Trust becomes an issue when an affiliate is making 100 thousand per month.  He said the biggest challenge is finding campaigns that convert. He trys a shot gun approach and tests ten campaigns at the same time. He divides  all the traffic  among the sites and after a few weeks sees which one is working then fires the rest. Pretty cool but seems expensive.

By now everyone should know that getting linked from other sites and blogs is the key to getting indexed by Google and other search engines. People get links in many ways, from simple link exchanges to comment spamming. What I want to talk about is something call link baiting.

Link baiting looks at linking as a fishing expedition. In order to catch a fish, you need bait. In the case of site development, the fishes are otherwebsites or blogs and the bait is your content. Well, let me restate that. The bait is not just any old content you have laying around – it's content specially designed to get you linked up by the websites you're fishing for. Let's look at a few ways to bait some links.

I have been interview twice since starting John Chow dot Com. In each case I linked to the interview. This is fantastic link bait, and it goes back to the above tip on site owners liking their ego's stroked. The sites that interviewed me have gone on to interview other blog owners and the blog owners have linked the interviews every time. If you were to post an interview with Kevin Rose, what are the chances of the interview not making it to the Digg front page?

There is alot of intersting tid bits to digest. Just read slow, take notes and always protect your PC with Antivirus Software Alert
