What Does 4G Technology Affect?

Posted: May 19, 2010 |Comments: 0 | Views: 189 |

4G Internet technology is primarily being used right now for Internet connectivity, of course. Right now, though, the type of connections that we're using through 4G Internet can also be used to influence other areas of technology. In short, this fast-developing fourth generation technology will affect more than just your Internet connection. It will increasingly become a part of your everyday life as it becomes more sophisticated and more widespread.

One of the main things that 4G technology will influence is the cell phone industry. Many cell phones are on 3G technology right now, but soon, 4G technology will be available in many networks. Those that currently offer the latest technology are few and far between, but soon everyone will start catching up. As far as cell phone technology goes, 4G networks can influence the reliability of connections as well as the speed with which they can connect to the web. More and more cell phone users are currently using their phones as mini-computers, as well, so the need for this new technology is widespread.

For business and even home use, 4G technology can be used for voice over IP phone technologies. VOIP is getting more popular for many reasons. It's reliable and affordable, and it cuts out the need for having a separate phone line from your Internet access line. No matter what type of access you are currently using for your home phone, VOIP can probably offer you a better connection as well as more affordable long distance than you have right now. This is a huge advantage for businesses, especially, who are looking for an integrated communications system that allows them to deal with more than one communications area at once.

Some of the 4G prototypes in Europe have even affected how people play. One prototype from Great Britain actually allowed people to play PlayStation games on the go. This type of connection has many uses in the world of entertainment, and chances are likely that much of its development will be in that direction in the future. It could influence the way you watch television and movies, the way you play online games, and the way you play games that were previously in-person only.

No matter what you're currently using a 2G or 3G Internet connection for, chances are likely that 4G technology is going to come along and change some part of that. It has a ton of different uses, and, as it gets faster and more reliable, more uses will be found for it in both the areas of personal use and business use. Currently, the most common use for 4G technology is that of mobile Internet connection. The technology isn't yet widespread enough to access from absolutely anywhere, but it's getting there. If you live in or near a larger city, it may be a good idea to check out current 4G offerings in your area so that you can ride out this wave of new technological advances.
