Review: Bioshock 2

Would I buy it? I've bought it!

When I first saw the city of Rapture, if I'm honest I was a little scared. The first game was without doubt unerving. There was a very real sense of trepidation when starting the game and that just built and built and built.

So, is this still the case? Or, has Bioshock 2 gone the way of so many sequels and watered down what was a great game to make a wishy washy, namby pamby, oity toity second class version of the first game? Well .......

If you are new to Bioshock, you are in for a real treat. If you have played the first game .... you are in for a real treat. This is a magnificent game. On the first level, you have the utterly beautiful world that the game lives in. Then, you have the disturbing uneasiness that comes with playing Bioshock 2. Your mutual desire is to be reunited, but Eleanor is now being held captive by her mother, Sofia Lamb, the new master of Rapture. As an altruist and collectivist, Lamb is the diametric opposite of Andrew Ryan, the wealthy industrialist who founded Rapture as a place where mankind could be unfettered by petty morals, the hand of government, or the word of God. As an antagonist, she lacks Ryan's charisma and larger-than-life presence, but her personal philosophy and particular brand of madness nonetheless provides an interesting,

Confused? Well buy the game and you won't be. And you won't be disappointed either.
