Bobby Fischer This 1993 chess movie was adapted from a bestselling book.  This is one film where chess and celebrities really come into focus.  Joe Mantegna, Ben Kingsley, Laurence Fishburne, David Paymer and William H. Macy starred in this heart warming film about a young boy learning chess. The focus of the movie was on a young boy and not the named stars.  It was how chess brought them all together for one cause, to help the boy become a chess champion. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone The game of chess played a significant role in the 2001 film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Indeed, this film presented the game of chess to the broadest possible audience than any of the chess movies or movies that have included chess in their plots that have been released since the birth of the motion picture. This film was one of the most widely released and viewed motion pictures of all time. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone had exposed more people to chess in film fashion than any other production.
