Dressup Games and Your Wardrobe

If you have not cleaned your closet out in the last six months from top to bottom, you are in serious need of a revamp. Your closet should be cleaned out at least once per year, but with youthful fashions and a body that is still growing in most cases, you can probably change your look twice a year or every six months. Even if your look stays the same, you will want to weed out the clothing that does not make sense or does not fit you anymore. Fortunately, this job does not have to be a chore. It is actually one of the most entertaining dressup games out there.

Dressup Games in Your Closet

Start by pulling everything out of your closet. Throw it all on the bed and then empty your drawers. Obviously this is a project that takes a while, so do not plan on going anywhere for a while. Pick up an item or two at a time to try on. Put on clothes together to make your favorite outfits and styles that are a bit different than you might be used to wearing.

As you try things on, look for new uses for old pieces. If you realize that the dressup games are making you look bad in some of your clothing, throw those pieces in a pile to sell or give away. Clothing that is outdated, out of style, torn, unfashionably ripped or stained should all go in the reject pile as well. Clothing that does not fit correctly can be rejected if it is cheap and not worth altering, or you can put the items in a stack to be altered by a tailor or seamstress.

Clothing that fits well and feels good should go back into your closet. Be wary of the comfortable clothing that is too big. If your wardrobe is actually too big for you, you will look sloppy. Consider going down a size to find a better fit or having pieces altered to avoid dropping jeans and gaping tops.

Rejecting Clothing in Dressup Games

Once you have a sizeable reject pile and all of the clothing you like is back in your closet or dresser, sort through those rejects again. There are resale shops popping up that will give you cash or store credit for items you bring in. You will want to be sure these items rejected from your dressup games are clean, gently used and useful to others. Soiled and stained clothing might be worth donating, but likely can be torn into rags to use around the house.

In the resale shop, exchange your ill fitting clothing for credit toward new items. Browse the racks with your current fashions in mind. You should now know your closet inside and out. That will make it easy to add a few new pieces for free or for a few dollars to make things interesting and fun again. Be sure to wash the new items again once you get them home and then add them to your newly cleaned out closet.
