Getting Into the Video Game Industry

A great way to get in to the gaming industry is to start as a freelance game testers. Developers will give you their games for you to test for glitches, errors and other problems with inside the levels. You will receive paychecks from the company after you fill out a report on the bug or incident in the game. This money can help pay for college and help you get a better job, perhaps, even working in a game studio. Although all this might sound easy, it can be somewhat frustrating if you haven't properly learned about aspects of the video game industry. As a game tester you will need to learn a lot in the area of self marketing.

Self marketing is a term that means to act as if you were your own product (if you didn't guess). Most of self marketing can be done over the internet but more serious video game industry enthusiast will have to venture out further. It is way to get connected with important people that will offer you a job or your next game to test. The first step to self marketing is to create a website or blog on yourself. On your site tell about current projects you are working on and that you are currently available for freelance testing. Act as if your site or blog is a resume.

In order to better understand your environment you need to talk to the gaming community. This can be done through forums, emails and comments. Introduce yourself to forums and your current job occupation, but don't brag or boast about your success. After you test a few games you can tell people on the forums what you have worked on, ONLY IF: the game developer doesn't embargo any information you might have. A big part of being a game tester is not to leak projects, game developers think of their projects as art and don't want you to spoil an unfinished project. On top of that, you might even be doing something illegal. On forums you can tell people your url address in order to drive traffic to your site.

After you have signed up and tested a few video games, you can stretch your wings outside of your home. Going to conventions is the best way to network face to face. The industry leaders will come to these conventions and you will have a chance to talk to all of them about their games. You shouldn't be intimidated by game developers since they are gamers like you and I. Try to get their email or find a way to contact them. Write a follow up letter to them to ask if them need any help testing their new projects.

The process might sound daunting but this isn't the only way you will get new games to test. It does, on the other hand, solidify your name in the gaming industry. For more information about the gaming industry and to sign up and get your first game check out The

Country Story Secrets Guide--So, There’s This New Guide on the Market…

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
I have been a Facebook gamer for most of the last few months now – ever since stumbling onto and becoming entirely too addicted to YoVille and then Restaurant City. Now, I split my time between Café World and Country Story and I have to say, the latter is becoming quite hard as I try to reach up toward the higher levels where all my friends are located. It’s just a pain in the butt these days.

Country Story Guides--Let’s Get to the Bottom of this Country Story Thing

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
Country Story is a relatively new release from Playfish that allows you to take on the role of a small town country guy or gal who needs to build a nice big farm, for whatever reason these Facebook avatars build their farms. It gives very similar tools to FarmVille (a game I’m going to assume you all play or have played at some point), but tosses some fun new ideas into the mix including the need to water your crops, the ability to fertilize those crops, and your stamina bar. Basically, it’s the

Country Story Guides--So Many Guides to Try, Not Enough Time

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
I’ve taken it upon myself of late to review as many of the new game guides being released for Facebook games as possible. There are so many though that I’m finding it a bit tough to narrow in on which ones are most important. So, today I’m going to pick a brand new guide for a game I personally love and have been playing a lot – Country Story. The guide is called Country Story Secrets and is written by a guy you all may know – Tony Sanders.

Country Story Guides--I’ve Been Playing a Lot of Country Story Lately

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
Ever since the first time I logged on to a Facebook game a little over a year ago, I have been incredibly addicted to everything I touch. Seriously – I can’t seem to wake up without finding another invitation or gift from a friend who has just started a new one. The current flavor of the month is Country Story – a game that I have been avoiding for some time because one of my friends told me how much more time you have to pour into it (the last thing I needed).

Country Story Cheats-The Ins and Outs of Stealing in Country Story

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
Short of the outright “attack” style Facebook games like Mafia Wars or Vampire Wars, there are very few games that task you with stealing from your fellow players. Country Story, however, is one of those games – integrating a unique gameplay element that allows you to take crops from your fellow players in exchange for friendship points which you will later boost back up.

Country Story Secrets Guide - The Original Country Story Strategy Guide

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
As I mentioned in the beginning, it was only a matter of time before a Country Story guide surfaced This one is written by Tony 'T Dub' Sanders who has written several other strategy guides in the past. His work is the best there is on social games guides and Country Store Secrets is no different. Here's a little background on the guide:

Country Story Cheats--How to keep Your Country Story Friendship Points High

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
The goal of Country Story is to plant and harvest crops, complete quest, and build up your farm to be one of the biggest and most successful around. That said, you also need to maintain a good relationship with your friends by replenishing Country Story friendship points – the currency by which your neighbors and friends in-game will be measured.

Country Story Secrets--How to Load Up on Neighbors in Country Story

By: hei55 | 27/11/2009
Like any good Facebook game, neighbors in Country Story are a fundamental aspect of play that can either make or break your strategies. In Country Story in particular, there are added levels of depth that you will not necessarily find for other Facebook games – things like Friendship points, and advanced gifting.
