Just My Two Copper has done it again with more fantastic insight into how a low level character (9-13) can make tons of gold off mobs that will make you go WHAT?! That's right, these monsters are so common and so obvious that your head will spin at their name...
Boars.
YEAH. Boar meat sells for 50s-1gold a peice! That means that a low level character (9-13) could run around durotar slaughtering these things and make a killing on the auction house. On my level 11 shaman I made 13 gold from selling 1.5 stacks of boar meat in a single night.
What will this money do for your alt?
Allow you to level professions.
Allow you to buy new green gear off the auction house.
You'll never worry about money as a lowbie.
You can roll on a new server and be totally confident that you can support yourself.
The boars are easy kills, plentiful, and just amazing in terms of their drop rate of boar meat. I think it's funny that level 80 players are running around durotar dueling and oblivious to the fact that the squishy little boars are so valuable!
Are there other mobs which you can kill for similiar results at higher levels? YES. Let's say you are waiting for players to get to wailing caverns for the instance there. You could jump into the ponds nearby and kill turtles which drop clams. These clams can give you a pearl (about 20s-50s) but most of the time they drop clam meat which sells AS WELL as the boar meat! There are tons of these turtles scattered about the pond so farming them is a breeze. If you are a miner or herbalist you will make a killing from all the respawning nodes in the area too. If you are a skinner then you'll make the maximum amount of gold from these guys by selling the pearls, meat, and skins. Be sure to watch for the hydra rare spawn that can appear here, he's worth a good amount from the boe blues he drops.
