Starcraft 2 Strategies For Beginners

If you are a new Starcraft 2 player this beginners strategy guide is perfect for you.

One thing a lot of Starcraft 2 beginners forget to do is scout their opponent. You should always try to see what your opponent is up to. One scout unit can tell you if you opponent is teching up really fast with 2 gas or if they are planning on rushing with an early Spawning Pool. It's very important in Starcraft 2 to scout your opponent so you can counter whatever they are doing.

Don't forget to place static defenses in your base such as Photon Cannons, Bunkers, and Spine Crawlers. If you have extra minerals to spend invest in some of these simple base defenses, they can save the game for you. In the mid to late game, static anti-air defense become a very important strategy. Get Spore Crawlers, Missile Turrets, and Photon Cannons to defend your workers from roaming Mutalisks, Phoenixes, and Banshees.

Protoss Strategies

- Keep using your Chrono Boost. If you can't use it for units or upgrades use it for Probes.

- In a Protoss Vs. Protoss mirror match focus on countering your opponent.

- In a Protoss Vs. Zerg match, scout your opponent as much as possible with Observers and try and counter his units.

- In a Protoss Vs. Terran I recommend getting Colossus / Stalkers if you come up against Marines / Mauraders. Otherwise get Immortals and Stalkers to handle his heavy armor units.

Zerg Strategies

- Build an extra Queen to spread Creep. This extra Creep will give you vision all over the map and allow your units to move and attack faster while on it.

- In a Zerg Vs. Protoss match-up, Start with Zerglings and Roaches and counter whatever the Protoss player is building after that.

- In a Zerg Vs. Terran match scout as much as you can and see what your opponent is doing. If hes not doing a early attack try and get some Mutalisks to attack his SCVs.

- In a Zerg Vs. Zerg mirror match try and rush your opponent with about 20 Zerglings with Metabolic Boost.

Terran Strategies

- Make sure you wall your ramp to stop early rushes by Zerg and Protoss.

- Against Protoss and Zerg try a Marine / Maurader / Medivac ball. It works great against both of them.

- In a Terran Vs. Terran game try and get a mix of Marines, Siege Tanks, and Vikings. This flexibility will allow you to dominate your opponent.
