Wii all love the new Nintendo

In December 2006, the Nintendo Wii hit all major stores and websites and Nintendo were about to change the way we are played games consoles for years to come. Before its release the Playstation and Xbox were flying high at the top with the no other competition but all that changed.

Just 3 years later, Nintendo has overhauled both Sony and Microsoft as the leading games console. In the first half of 2007, the Wii sold more units than the PS3 and Xbox 360 combined in the United States and the lead is even greater in Japan where the Wii outsold the Xbox by 2:1 and the PS3 by a whopping 6:1.

The main reason behind its success is the new style of gaming the Wii offers. People of all ages can play as well as it being a fun new way of getting the family together. There are a range of games that are designed to be played with 2 or more players which encourages social interaction (something other consoles were accused of lacking in the past).

One advantage Nintendo has over its competitors is the fact they can reduce the price of their games without it having a huge effect on their profits. This is due to the decision not to make their games high definition at the start; this means they can produce games a lot cheaper than Microsoft and Nintendo can. This has helped the Wii during the financial troubles the world finds itself in at the moment.

The recently released Wii Fit put Nintendo in a the good books of those who say games consoles are bad for your health as the Wii Fit comes with the “Wii Board” that allows the user to take part in various exercises including cardio vascular exercises. As well as the Wii Fit, all Wii games offer the user a different way of playing a game and encourage them to get off their seat and get involved in the game by moving around.

The Nintendo Wii is the best selling console over the last 3 years and it’s easy to see why. You can Shop online for all the best deals on the Wii and all its games..
