WoW Fishing Guide

When you are playing WOW,you would know that fishing is a secondary profession that can be learned on top of your primary professions in WOW.  It is a great way to make a ton of gold, especially since most people find it tedious and boring. Fishing and cooking go hand in hand, and there are plenty of people who take up cooking without fishing.  They will need your fish for most of the leveling and needs of cooking, so if you have the patience, fishing can make you lots of world of warcraft gold.

Trainers are in all the major cities in Azeroth (not Northrend).   You will need to train in fishing and then buy a fishing pole and bobbles.   Bobbles will make fishing a whole lot easier especially if you are in an area where the fish are orange to you.

If you have a higher level character, you will want to buy the upgrade books from "Expert Fishing - The Bass and You" from Old Man Heming in Booty Bay. You will also need to buy "Master Fishing - The Art of Angling" from Juno Duffrain in Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh.  If you don’t have a higher level character, you can also buy these from the Auction House. This will cost you more gold than if you simply purchased them from the vendors, but it’s an option for those who don’t want to make the trip.

For this particular WoW Fishing Guide, it is assumed you are a high level and you can hop from zone to zone without worrying about mobs.   If you are any other level, then consider that some areas will have a high rate of PVP and mobs that will be difficult to fight.

Level 1- 75

First, you need to travel to your faction’s starting area.   Every starting area has an area where you can fish.   For alliance, Darkshire is a great place to level.   It even has a quest for you to get a better fishing pole with +5 fishing added to it.   If you are Horde, Silverpine Forest has a great lake to fish until you reach level 75.

Level 75-150

This level begins fishing with PVP.   What is even worse is that it is a very popular area to PVP.   There is a lake by Southshore that is great for this level.   There is also a river behind Tarren Mill that is great for Horde.   You can level up in this area.

Level 150 – 225

Fishing in the next zones has equally enough PVP.   The best areas to skill up are Arathi Highlands and Desolace.   The nice part about Desolace is that it is not as populated, so you may be able to fish without much hassle.

Level 225 – 300

This level is less PVPish and will often allow you to fish quietly.  Azshara is practically empty since the expansion packs, so you can fish on the shores to increase your level. You can also fish in Hinterlands or Plaguelands, or Tanaris depending on the fish you would like to farm.

Level 300-375

This level will increase from the Burning Crusade expansion pack.  There isn’t much water in Hellfire Peninsula, but Zangarmarsh in a great way to increase fishing to 350. After reaching 350, you can reach 375 in Terrokar Forest.  There are other places within the Burning Crusade content as well including Nagrand, but Nagrand is much higher density for PVP.

Level 375 – 450

For this level you can travel anywhere in Northrend to skill level.  The expansion pack has just come out, so PVP is intense at this point.  Make sure you group with other groups of your faction or get ready to die a few times from being backstabbed by a rogue.

If you plan on taking up fishing as a profession I strongly suggest you take up cooking as well. Hope this guide can give you some good help.
