Make sure it has enough depth to width to fit everything you'll need. Rule of thumb for this is to always go bigger than you think you'll need; computer desks have a way of attracting more things than you expect, so it's better to at least have room to separate and organize them than to have everything stuck in random piles.
Shape: computer desks come in all sizes and shapes. This can be great, until you get your beautiful U-shaped desk into your office and realize it is a little too big, destined to forever make your office look crammed and unprofessional. While you're in the search for your desk, measuring your office will prevent lots of worry later as you try to conjure up the dimensions from your memory. As for shape, you might even consider taking butcher paper and making an outline of the different shape desks you're considering, just to see how they work in your space and if there will be room to work around them.

Will your chair leave enough room for your legs under the desk, or will it always leave you sitting in a semi-twisted, legs outside the desk, torso facing forward position? How about the armrests? Will they run into the side of the desk, making it impossible to move in close to the desk? How about the width of the chair at the bottom? The sides of the base shouldn't be large than the open space under the desk, or you will not be able to slide the chair in. There are folding chairs, rolling chairs, executive chairs, even stools. The most important thing is to make sure it fits with your desk and allows you to sit comfortably.
Also, think about what kind of look you're going for, or have already established in your office. Would a dark wood desk or a glass one fit in better with your style? Take your time, and envision all of the options available. Will it be facing
Lastly, don't forget who'll be using the desk. If you have a home office, chances are that little hands will be opening drawers, spinning the chair and using the desk as a hiding spot during games of Hide and Go Seek. This is speaking from personal experience- many a hiding spot was discovered in my mom's desk, when I was small enough to conceive of fitting in those tiny spaces. Speaking of, you may want to invest in some of those child-proof locks for drawers you don't want those little hands in.
