Computer Says No Sound - How Can I Fix This?

Update Your Sound Drivers

Sometimes the reason your computer says no sound may be a little more complicated. It could be that your sounds drivers need an update. There are literally thousands of different sound drivers available for all kinds of systems. The easiest way to obtain the Driver Robot for your specific computer is to use the driver cd that came with your computer. You can also download the drivers specific to your computer direct from the manufacturer's website. However, be careful you don't install the wrong driver on your computer. This can cause major conflicts and can even effect your computer's normal operation.

When searching for drivers, always look for the most updated driver available. Drivers are usually packed into executable files for ease of use. However, there are some cases where manufacturers will provide an inf file. The inf file is the driver file. 1. Click the system icon.


2. Click on the hardware tab.


3. Click on device manager.


4. Look for the sound and audio devices icon on the list of devices.


5. Right click the first icon you see under sound and audio devices.


6. Click update driver.


7. Select the browse button and look for the inf file. It's usually in /my documents or desktop.


8. Wait for Windows to install the driver.


9. Restart
