Desktop PC's standing their own in the market

Posted: Feb 26, 2011 |
All the hype in the current market is about the ease of which technology can be carried around and the introduction of netbooks and laptops, doing work on the go has never been easier. However, there is still a high demand for desktop PC's on the market due to the number of people still wanting to have one at home. The benefits of a PC is that you normally have a wider screen to work from and for industries such as design where detailed programmes need to be used and where every little detail matters, a larger screen is better.

Desktop PC's tend to have a larger memory that your standard laptop and whereas with a laptop you will be able to buy better models with larger hard drives, memory, RAM etc, desktop PC's will already have that and this is one of the benefits of having them. Most people have both, a laptop to take with them when they are travelling to a meeting or generally on the go but they will have a desktop back at home and the office where they will do the vast majority of their work. With this, desktop PC's demand has remained high over the years and with so many great deals on it is easy to see why.

Some companies have recognised that each customer is different and have therefore worked a customisation process into their product offering so that the customer can tell them what they need and they can work it into the price. Software and hardware options have improved over the years, not least Microsoft's software which has since been upgraded to Windows 7, which means you will be able to find the ideal combination of software and hardware options for your computer.

When it comes to deals, customers also have a wider range than there was many years ago due to the high level of competition. With leading brands such as Dell, HP and Acer all vying for market share, the price of the average desktop PC has drastically reduced and this has helped customers find the best model at the best price. In addition, the increasing popularity of laptops and netbooks have made the manufacturers of PC's think harder about how to advertise their products to make sure that they stay competitive in one of the most competitive markets today.

Computers used to be a feature in the home that was hidden away and possibly kept in a smaller box room or study. This was mainly because computers from around 10 or even 20 years ago were fairly unattractive appliances to have on show in the home. Older models were large, bulky and generally came in an uninspiring beige colour that meant people were keen to hide their PCs behind closed doors.
