Disc Stuck in Wii-Fix

Posted: Jun 30, 2011 |

In my opinion the Wii is one of the most reliable consoles out there today. Added to that, it was the first console that used motion to control a game. Furthermore its simplicity of use means that it is perfect for young children and adults alike, who cannot figure out how to use complex interfaces, or do not have the time to figure it out. Because of these factors, it has become one of the most popular gaming consoles today giving users priceless hours of entertainment. However all this fun can quickly turn into stress if your Wii will not eject the disc. Below are some tips that may give you a fix!

Make sure that there is actually a disc in the Wii. The best way to check is looking at the Disc Channel in the main menu. This is usually the cause of the Wii not ejecting a disc since the Wii cannot eject a disc that is not there!

If you are certain there is a disc in the console, then try turning off the Wii waiting about half a minute, then turning it back on. It is possible that the Wii started up badly. If this is the case, simply turning it on and off again will solve the problem.

If the Wii is horizontal, place it in the vertical position then press eject. Or if the Wii is vertical, place it in the horizontal position then press eject. This may allow the disc to move into a better position inside the drive enabling the Wii to eject it. You may also want to try pointing the front of the Wii, where the disc slot is, towards the ground, then pressing eject as the pull of gravity might help eject the disc.

If the Wii still refuses to eject the disc then you have a more serious problem with the console- most likely a problem with the disc drive. To fix it, you can either send it back to Nintendo or get a good Wii repair guide and repair the console yourself.

I would recommend that you send your Wii to Nintendo if your console is still under warranty since you should not have to pay for repairs and you will void your warranty if you open your Wii to repair it. For, those whose warranty has expired, sending your console to Nintendo can cost you $50 and up. Additionally, everyone, whether their console is under warranty or not, will have to wait a few weeks to get their console back.

It is possible to repair the Wii yourself, but in order to do this, you will need a good repair guide so that you have the best chance of fixing your console. A good repair guide will have step by step instructions with pictures to help you easily understand what to do in order to get the Wii to eject the disc. It should also have some sort of support so in case you get stuck fixing your console, you can ask for help.

To fix the Wii not ejecting disc problem, you need to get a good Wii repair guide, otherwise you stand the chance of further damaging your console. Check out these 2 good repair guides. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself if they are good!
