Adware and spyware are really nasty types of malware. Adware keeps showing you advertisements and this is really maddening but spyware is the real criminal because it can do you substantial harm. Spyware spies on your activities on the Web and in addition to recording the addresses of the sites you visit, it also captures really sensitive data as passwords or credit card numbers. Needless to say, you are not informed about all this spying activity.
Stealing information is not the only crime of spyware. It also makes your computer work slowly and in many cases it might stop working at all. Spyware also affects other programs you have installed on your computer ? i.e. Internet Explorer. If you think that since you have an anti-virus program on your computer you are on the safe side, think again. Anti-virus programs deal with viruses, which are different from adware and spyware and because of that anti-virus programs, unless they have special anti-adware and anti-spyware functionality, can?t protect you against adware and spyware. So, before you get an anti-virus program, make sure that it can protect you not only against viruses, but against adware and spyware. Some of the programs you might want to try are Norton AntiVirus 2004 (or newer) Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2004, or McAfee VirusScan.
Do you experience frequent crashes or are you constantly chased by all sorts of ads, which appear from nowhere? If you experience any of the above, there is a risk you have caught spyware and/or adware and you should get a reliable program to remove them. You can get a free spyware and adware removal program but if you want a really reliable solution, you?d better consider purchasing a paid program.
If you are fond of downloading free stuff, the risk of getting spyware and adware with free programs is incredibly high. Very often the authors of the program tell you indirectly that you will get more than you thought but usually they don?t state in plain text that you will be getting adware and spyware for free. But sometimes even a visit to an infected site is all you need to do in order to get infected. Remember, never click links to sites, which look suspicious!
For regular Internet users the risk of infection when you don?t have a good program to protect you is incredibly high. Anti-adware and anti-spyware programs not only kick the pests out of your computer but they are also a barrier for them to enter. Getting anti-adware and anti-spyware protection is so easy that you simply have no excuse to stay unprotected.
You can easily obtain free adware and spyware removal programs from the Internet. These programs are an indispensable helper in your fight against these nasty pests and they can make it easier for you to not to let them in.

By: Anthony | 24-07-2008
Hi
I am having troubles with accessing my AOL account. It seems that I can't receive or send emails at all.
When I try accessing AOL from aol.com, I get a page that says: "Service Error: There was a problem handling your request. An unspecified error has occurred."
When I try accessing my mail from my Mail app on my mac, I cannot send or receive email at all.
Then I tried my iPhone, when I accessed it, it says "Cannot get Mail: The user name or password for "AOL" is incorrect." I know for sure its not my user name or password thats wrong...
Any suggestions?
