Fake Call Apps Round-Up

The Apple App store offers several fake call apps for iPhone use and the list is growing. Everyone, at one time or another gets caught in a situation that they want to get out of quickly. Only the problem is that they lack any form of an exit strategy. With fake call apps you can get out of almost any uncomfortable situation without creating one lie after another to achieve it. After all, a fake call app is not really a lie; you are calling yourself and pretending to be someone else. Okay maybe it's a little white lie, but hey it works.

By reading iPhone app reviews, you can decide which fake call app works best for you. Here are some of them:

Fake Calls gives you a choice of name and type of number such as mobile or home and offers one ringtone. You can pre-time the call and it's easy to use. There are not a lot of frills, but you can choose what wallpaper you want to display when you receive the fake call.

Another interesting twist on the fake call app is called Escape Pod. Instead of creating a fake call, it generates sounds that you can initiate while you are on the phone like a baby crying, or a siren noise from a fire truck or ambulance. Escape Pod does not get you out of face-to-face meetings, but it does help you end unpleasant or unwanted phone calls in a very innovative way.

Another interesting twist to the fake call app has been created by AlibiSMS and it offers customized fake text messages which are easy to use. iPhone app reviews notes the app will work if you want to use a SMS text message as the vehicle to get you out of a tight situation or conversation. This is the only service that AlibiSMS offers.

Another app that iPhone app reviews mentions is exitstrategy which is a great tool to generate fake calls. With exitstrategy you can set up a fake call, or receive a phony SMS text. They also offer a panic button, plus another timed call is generated one minute later. How convincing right? If you get a real call before the timer call, then the timer call is canceled, but the other three options should do the trick even without the timer call at all.

Another great fake call app is HottrixPhone Pro. iPhone app reviews says this app gives you the option to receive a number of timed calls using a playlist. Instead of just one call or a text message, there can be more than one, so you have several reasons to end a meeting or a phone call. HottrixPhone Pro adds credibility to the call by using actual ringtones. It also provides a voice on the other end of the fake call, making this combination very believable. By calling yourself more than once you show the urgency of ending your present situation, because a more pressing engagement is calling.

One more worth mentioning here is GottaDash which is focused on getting you out of business meetings. There are several different ringtones and the time of the rings can vary. As one iPhone app review explains, the ringtone idea is good but some other support is needed to back-up the created scenario.

Whatever fake call app you choose, it is a lesson in choices.

Netbook vs Laptop

By: Nestor Hayden | 28/11/2009
Going back a few years, the one question which was continuously asked of me was, should I get a laptop instead of a desktop PC? Whilst there is no definitive answer, as each person's needs are different, the answer has probably changed from 90% NO to 90% YES. The reason for this is the narrowing gap between desktop and laptop computers in terms of performance, reliability and storage capacity. Now we have a stand-off between netbook and laptop computers as people explore the possibi...
