WinPC Defender, yet another rogue spyware application. This one is particularly professional looking, but don't fall for the scam. All this software wants to do is bloat your system full of malware and steal your credit card number in the process. This program is a clone of the awful XP Police Antivirus. Normally you will get infected with this particular virus after a video codec has been downloaded by your computer. Whatever you do, you must rid yourself of WinPC Defender before it compromises your personal files, and at worst, leads you to become a victim of identity theft.
How Do I Know I Have It?
The most obvious symptoms are system scans at every start-up and bogus error message warnings. Additional symptoms are system slowdowns, browser freezes, system crashes, internet redirects and hijacks, popups, and taskbar alerts. The software will try to scare you into purchasing a "full version." Don't do it. This software won't remove the infections from your computer. It will only try to remove your credit card information from your wallet.
How Do I Remove It?
There are two main methods of removal. There is the manual method and the automatic method. To remove the virus manually you will have to kill the related processes (pcdefender.exe), delete all related registry values in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folders, unregister the ieocx.dll file, and delete all related exe files and program files. AGain, I must stress that if you are not a professional then do not attempt a manual removal. This is only for IT professionals and big time tech nerds like me.
How Can I Delete it RIGHT NOW?
The quickest and easiest way to get rid of WinPC Defender is the automatic way. I'm a professional, and I simply don't have the time to manually remove every virus I come across.
