HP OfficeJet 6310 Review

Posted: Nov 09, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

HP offers a good range of All-in-One products. The OfficeJet 6310 targets the SOHO sector and includes a networking connection, therefore its features may be simply shared.

The OfficeJet 6310 at the same time shares its style with many other HP OfficeJets. It's pretty broad, but is definitely less deep than a number of its rivals. That being said, any time printing, you have to expand the paper-out tray completely or A4 pages can end up on the counter or floorboards. Beneath this is a second shelf, onto which it is possible to insert up to 100 sheets of plain paper, or less photo blanks. It is a bit basic, yet will do the work.

Beginning with the top of the machine, there is a 35-sheet Auto-Document Feeder (ADF). Raise the ADF and you've got a typical flatbed scanning device; raise the whole of the scanner part and you can reach the twin ink cartridges. Towards the bottom of the front panel on the left is a collection of four memory card slots and one meant for PictBridge. Sticking out of the front of the unit is the control panel.

There are really quite a good deal of controls, since the device provides full fax services, along with copy, scan as well as print. A two-line by 16-character, backlit Liquid crystal display supplies status messages as well as instructions but, needless to say, simply no method of previewing images from a memory card. To accomplish this, you need to print a thumbnail sheet.

At the rear are sockets intended for USB 2. as well as Ethernet, both of which are standard.

The two Vivera HP OfficeJet 6310 ink cartridges, one just for black along with the other tri-colour, snap in their carriers and aside from loading paper, this is the sole physical installation needed. The OfficeJet 6310 comes with IRIS OCR software, in addition to a number of HP's own printing, scanning and photo management programs.

HP's claimed 8.5ppm with regard to normal quality black print equalls a test result of just over 5ppm and its colour print speed of around .9ppm comes right down to .56ppm.

Colour copy rates of 44s coming from the flatbed as well as 48s coming from the ADF are fairly good and the fastest 15 x 10cm photo, via an SD card, emerged in 1:05, which is not poor, either.

Print quality is variable, with a little fuzziness as a result of black ink bleed upon standard multifunction office paper. Colour prints with artwork are usually OK, although we observed slight bands inside regions of solid colour and again, a bit of bleed of overlaid black text. Colour copies keep most of the colour from the original, though with a little paling as well as visible banding - not necessarily a bad effort nevertheless.

With regards to picture prints, HP Vivera inks give a good account of themselves. The test landscape print provides extremely sleek, well-gradated sky as well as a good amount of detail within darker, shadowed places. There's lots of foreground detail and also lots of fine detail along the skyline, as well.

The 344 colour cartridge is actually a bigger yield edition of the 343, but HP inhibits its use within the OfficeJet 6310, preferring to market you a double pack of 343s, for a higher price. It does offer the 342, light-use cartridge as well as three distinct volumes of black with the 336, 337 and 339.

HP doesn't appear to know quite the best places to pitch this unit. With one breath the marketers state it isn't designed for people needing high-yield ink cartridges, whilst with the next it tries to market dual packs of standard-yield cartridges. In other areas, the OfficeJet 6310 ticks all of the boxes and also comes in at a decent price. Text print is undoubtedly a tad jagged around the edges, nevertheless.

There is certainly a lot that's fresh in HP's Photosmart 8250, just about all gathered under the umbrella head line of Scaleable Printing Technology (SPT).
