Posted: Dec 03, 2009 |Comments: 1 |

Have you been bothered that you spend longer and longer time in booting and shutting down your computer? It is quite normal for any user to encounter such problems. Actually, sometimes, you just need to do small changes to your computer in order to speed up computer. In this article, I will tell you some specific methods to solve problems.

First, you can set pre-reading in order to improve boot speed.

You can click "Start" > "Run", type "regedit" to enter into "Registry Editor", and find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ CurrentControlSet/Control/Session Manager/Memory Management/PrefetchParameters. Then, find "EnablePrefetcher" in the right window, change its value to 1 (0—disable pre-read, 1—pre-read application, 2—pre-read system startup, 3—both pre-read). If your computer is above PIII 800MHz, you can change value to 4or 5. After that, you can enjoy the high speed of re-starting your computer. Besides, there is a way to help you speed up the startup of your system.

You can open "System Properties" > "Advanced"> "Startup and "Recovery"> "Setting", and add /noguiboot to fastdect. By doing this, it does not display any scroll bar when starting your computer. But, if you really like the scroll bar, it is unnecessary for you to do this step.

Then, click "Start"> "Run", type msconfig so you can open MSCONFIG. Click "start". In the option, you may find it contains all the applications during operating Windows. Here, you can delete any application as long as you want because there is not any vital application for Windows. Besides, if your computer is still running slow, you may try to close system restore, hibernate support or automatic update. It may assist you in improving your computer speed.

And, besides changing the values, you can also defragment the hard disk in order to speed up computer. If there are too many fragments, it costs lots of time to read data when booting or shutting down computer. Therefore, you can also perform defragmenting operation in the Windows, or if you find it really takes lots of time, you can resort to some professional defrags which must be more efficient and time-saving.

I agree with you, and i will share my methods with you to optimize system and then speed up computer.
1.run a antivirus software to scan your computer fully.

virus usually impacts the speed of computer.
If there is no virus, see the possible reasons that make computers slow down and solutions.

2.Registry is the centre database of your computer operating system which contains information and settings for hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, and per-user settings. You must load the registry whenever you launch any programs on your computer. If the registry is too fat or with some errors, computer's performance will seriously be impacted. So, you need to clean up registry and fix its errors.

If you are not familiar with registry, don't remove files away from it and clean up it easily for you may delete important things that will make your computer in trouble. You'd better choose to use a professional registry cleaner, personally,I like wondershare registry optimizer,it's safe to operating system.

3.There must be too many programs start up automatically when you start your computer.Run a registry optimizer or cleaner to stop those unnecessary start-up programs.

4.Have you ever clean up your computer since you bought it? If the answer is never, I am sure that there are lots of junk files on it. Junk files is also one of reasons that will cause computer slowing down. You'd better delete them regularly.

2,3,4 can be realized by a registry optimizer.

5.If a registry optimizer doesn't work, add RAM or do a fresh reinstall of windows. Before you do a reinstall, please remember to back up.However, you should know that frequent reinstall is harm to hard disk.

6.Put programs on other drivers ,not C driver, because commonly C is for operating system. And defrag hard disks every 2 months.
