Tablet PC Buying Guide

Posted: Nov 04, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Tablets have touch screens that make using them fun. Whether you use a stylus or your finger, you can navigate your tablet computer with the greatest of ease by simply touching on where you want to go. No more mouse clicks and no more swooping around the page looking for the right spot. When the web catches up with modern touch screens, the possibilities will be endless.

What you should know about tablets and touch screens is that there are actually two types: capacitive and resistive. Capacitive touch screens are more responsive in that their actually register the current coming from your finger. They are the more expensive touch screens, of course. The resistive screens only register the pressure or physical force from the finger and they are, as you might expect, less expensive.

Multi-touch support is essential when you're buying a tablet PC. This lets you use multiple fingers to gesture, enabling the use of pinch-to-resize and other fun features. Multi-touch, like capacitive touch, is something that you probably won't find on the less expensive tablet PCs.

There are a number of tablet PCs on the market and a number of choices. The field is growing incredibly and it can be hard to narrow it down, especially as new tablets are springing out all over the place with great frequency. Compare prices and capabilities in the store and don't be afraid to use your fingers to check out the capabilities. You never know how good a tablet PC is until you've touched it for yourself.
