The Motorola Evoke Q4A Cell Phones Review

The Evoke Q4A by Motorola comes in subtly different form from what we expect for a Motorola handsets. It currently has a graceful slider design and some smartphone-like features like a full browser supporting HTML and a nice control panel but the Q4A isn't a full fledged smart phone. The Q4A is rather different from the other cellular phone by Motorola.

It is beautiful and is made with quality in its build. The Evoke's rounded corners and rubberized, yet smooth, backing feels pretty nice in your hand. At the front part of the unit is the 2.8-inch display with a resolution of 400-by-240-pixels. What many like about the Evoke Q4A by Motorola is its minimalist design. One square button will function as the OK / back / app-launcher button.

There is a lock or unlock toggle and a camera key sitting on the right side, and on the left is a volume control. On the bottom there is a microUSB port for charging and a headset port. There is also a microSD slot right under the removable battery.

The slide-out numeric pad is robust and the keys are simple to press down, because they are made nice and big with raised numbers and bright backlight. Naturally, it's got a software keyboard that may be employed in either landscape of portrait alignment. As well the predictive-text function works nicely.

The keyboard also has haptic feedback. This means when you press a key the phone will give you a slight vibration. The Evoke Q4A comes pre loaded with 7 widgets. They are: Follow Me Weather, Google Picasa, Google Quicksearch, MySpace (The Mobile Version), RSS Reader, USA Today Mobile, and of course YouTube. Each widget has its own panel. You can also easily flip thru the available widgets through a swipe of your finger. While instantaneous access to apps is a clever feature, you are limited to those 7. When browsing scrolling thru pages can take multiple screens on occassion, and zooming into diverse areas of the page appeared slightly jerky but not too bad. The multimedia player is nice. You can easily skim your library of music by album, song or even artist. Playback modes offer shuffle, loop, and of course playlist. The sound quality is very good, and you can even use your own headphones (in some cases an adapter may be required since the Evoke Q4A by Motorola has a microUSB jack). The camera, is amazing like no other, the Image-quality is outstandingly good for a 2-megapixel camera. Another great feature is that it lets you upload your photographs right to Google Picasa from your photograph studio.
