The process by which you produce large quantities of CDs is called CD replication. The recording industry uses the CD replication process in order to create and release music albums by performing artists.
Many production houses and media companies have learned the potential of CD replication as a cost effective method rather than manufacturing new ones. The CD replication process in simple terms involves copying of information from a master disc to make multiple copies of it. The CD replication process for a large volume of CDs is done with the help of a glass master of the information. Once the glass master process is completed the information is protected with layers of polycarbonate plastic. After the CD is finished it is screened and tested for its quality and finally packed for distribution.
The mastering part of the CD replication process means making the original master disc from which all the other copies will be replicated. The mastering process entails all the necessary adjustments and finishing touches on the songs or tracks before the CD can enter the CD replication process. The original master will then be used to create the glass master and afterwards stamps are made from this glass master.
Next in the CD replication process is the injection molding step. High-tech injection molding is used by the stamps in order to generate identical copies of the original master disc. Once the preliminary master copy is ready it must undergo finalization. During this finalization stage, the disc is coated with reflective aluminum and lacquer to help protect its surface and preserve the data stored. The CDs are now ready for label printing.
