It happens to lie in the very design of the Xbox 360 consoles. In order to give the Xbox 360 the sleekest looks, the developers have crammed all the electronics inside a small pushed arch box. There are two chips inside the Xbox 360 as you know it; the CPU and the GPU. These happen to be the most important chips inside the console which take care of almost everything that happens inside the console. Once the Xbox 360 is played for a long time, the CPU and the GPU start getting heated up; added with the inadequate system for the ventilation, it tends to freeze your system which is why your Xbox 360 freezes. Usually the system shuts down, in order to prevent the damage for critical components. Sometimes it is the disc which might create the problem. When the updates that are required for the proper functioning of the game is not available on your console, there are a lot of chances of you console being frozen.
