Finding the Right Tool Belt for You

Whether you are a professional tradesman or the weekend project enthusiast, it’s important to have the right accessories for your tools. The right tool belt will increase your speed and effectiveness by making it easy to move and your tools easy to find. It can also help to misimize discomfort and reduce the risk of injury. It is important to select the tool belt that is right for your usage to gain maximum efficiency.

First, do a realistic evaluation of your use. Professional tradesmen should go with leather as it is the best quality and will last for a long time. Occidental is hands-down one of the best leather belt manufacturers out there. Nothing beats the sturdiness of a quality leather belt, and Occidental Leather Tool Belts are well-known for their superior design and durability. If you are less active with your tools, you can consider nylon or canvas belts which are less durable but lightweight.

Next, consider how the belt is functionally designed. Look and feel are important, but functional design is critical when it comes to the usefulness of your belt. How are the loops and pockets organized? What tools does your tool belt need to accommodate? What’s going to work best for the type of projects you tackle? Are you right or left handed? You also need to make sure that the belt is weight distributed when holding your tools so that the belt doesn’t sag and annoy you. If your tools are on the heavier side, you may want to also get suspenders which improve the belt’s balance and comfort.
