Gable walls are the triangular shaped built after the ring beam. This walls follow the triangular roof trusses. They are pitched to the on both sides. They conform to the roof pitch. This walls offer the cover at the end of buildings where roof lifts above bay windows and staircases. It is important to build a strong wall due to the lateral forces on the building. This forces include driving rain and wind. The finishes are similar to the external walls on the house.

Gable walls allow the for the roof space to be utilized in buildings. In a building with multiple dwellings, they offer privacy. This is because they rise up to the roof level. When constructing a home, ensure that the ring beam and wall plate are properly joined together. This is to ensure that the gable wall only carries the roof together with the trusses. Sometimes the ceiling may be pitched and thus it follows the gable wall line. the brandering is therefore attached to this walls.

After the ring beam is cast the gable wall can then be erected. A piece of timber is cut and nailed at the center of the beam. This will be the line for the right angle of the triangular roof to be built/ This timber is usually the height of the roof to be built. It is also the point at which the ridge will commence across the entire roof at the top. A string is then nailed to this timber. It marks the height of the wall on both sides from the center forming the two hypotenuse from the ring beam.

The gable wall is constructed like other walls in the home. Hoop iron reinforcement is used at every alternate course. The wall is built racking backwards as it forms a triangle in line with the string. What is left are steps on both sides of the wall from the center. This are filled once the roof is complete. Holes should also be left where the roof purlins will seat on. When roofing is complete, the holes are filled. After this the desired wall finishes are applied for giving good aesthetics to the wall facade.
