Pallet Feet
Pallet feet are primarily used to support containers that are used for packing different types of finished products. Pallet feet are attached to the main pallet body so that it can be transported easily. The feet are designed in such a way so as to fit the pallet legs of the box or angle shaped pallets.
The types of pallets that are installed on top of these feet include steel pallets, metallic containers, special pallets, MU pallets and plastic pallets. Plastic pallets are mostly used in the food industry. Steel pallets are mainly used to dispatch steel containers. MU pallets are actually made by combining polyethylene and polypropylene. These pallets weigh around 13.5kgs. Thus based on the industry in which the pallets are used, the type of pallets and the pallet support that is used will keep varying.
Pallet feet are mainly made out of steel. They are available in two basic shapes, namely round and square. In the square type, two different thickness pallet feet are available. The two thicknesses that are available in the square pallet type are 2.5mm and 3 mm respectively. These two thick pallet feet are denoted by certain special codes. The heights of both the square pallet supports are 1-5/8". Round feet are available only in one thickness, namely, the 2.5 mm thick round pallet supports. These feet come with a height of 1-9/16" and a diameter of 5-1/4".
There are also pallet feet that are made out of wood. The sizes of wooden feet more or less follow the same specification as steel feet. Both the round and square pallet feet are actually punch formed, so that the cages and stillages can be attached to it. The cages and stillages can be designed in such a way that they sit comfortably on top of the feet, which are usually available in plain form. If required, the suppliers will be able to subject the round or square pallet feet to hot dip galvanizing and electro plating. These pallet feet are also known as cup feet.
The cost of each pallet support is around $5. If one orders a bulk quantity of feet, which is usually 50 or more, then one can usually get them at discounted rates of say $3.5 per piece. If one is going to order for anything below 50, they need to be prepared to pay $5 for a piece.
