Why I Love My Stainless Steel Stock Pot

I like shiny things. Stars are shiny, new cars are shiny, and stainless steel is shiny. I like stainless steel. One reason for that is because it's shiny, but it is also very convenient. A stainless steel stock pot is easy to clean, nice to look at, durable, and if I am using it for cooking it doesn't cook off flavors into whatever I am making.

I use a stainless steel pot to make beer, par-broil chicken and pork ribs, and to look fancy while doing both. For making my beer, I fitted my stainless steel pot with a spigot with a quarter turn ball valve so I could transfer the hot liquid from my large cook pot into the fermenter with as little hassle as possible. All I have to do then is pour some water into the pot and let it boil a little then wash the sides and I am done. You would need to have access to welding equipment to fit the spigot to the pot or know a friend who would be willing to help you in your modification, but it is well worth the effort. They also make a stainless steel fermenter though they are a little on the pricey side, but they are very nice to drool over on-line.

If you are barbecuing spare ribs or chicken, par-broiling is a must. It makes the chicken and ribs moist and tender where it almost melts in your mouth. But if you par-broil, a large stockpot is a must. A stainless steel stock pot is nice for this because you can put your chicken or ribs into the boiling water and not worry about it until your done and then your cleanup is a snap.

All in all a stainless steel stock pot is a great addition into your kitchens arsenal.  With its versatility, durability, and good looks who cares if what your making tastes good or not.
