Getting Paid to Write: Choose Your Own Writing Path
One of the reasons why I love to get paid to write for a living is because it enables me to live the life I want to and choose which career path I want to follow.
I only started writing professionally in 2008, and back then I didn't know anything about SEO content or how to make a career from writing it. If truth be told, I didn't really think that it was possible to make a living from it.
But nowadays nearly all my income comes from writing SEO articles for clients. Over the years I have found lots of clients who have supplied me with work on a regular basis, and now I don't even have to spend time marketing for new work.
But now I am thinking about changing direction, and the beauty of being a writer is that this is always a possibility.

Right now I'm working on some other forms of earning money from writing. Although I like working for clients and will continue to do so for a while yet, I like the idea of branching out and creating new income streams, so I am now getting involved in internet marketing.
For me, internet marketing is just another type of writing. Most of the work is based around writing good content, and that's one thing I know how to do. Of course, there is more to it than that, but content is right at the heart of affiliate marketing.
The fact is, by writing SEO web content for a number of years, I am now in a position where I can make more time for myself to work on other projects. I have the work coming in which I need to keep me paying my rent, and now I can literally choose which direction I want to go in.
I might have chosen to write more journalistic articles and try to get them published in magazines and newspapers. But for me I love the idea of making a living online. It is the ultimate in freedom, so that's what I'm going to work towards.
You Can Decide Which Path to Choose
Just because you make your living doing one type of writing, you can easily switch at some point, whether because you want a challenge or you just fancy something new. Especially when you make a living writing SEO content, you can use this as a start to something else. Start off writing content, and when you get enough regular work in you can forget about marketing and use your time to focus on other projects.
For that reason, even if SEO content writing doesn't particularly appeal to you, you can still give it a go, earn some good money from it, and then use it to keep some regular money coming in whilst you focus on developing your skills in other types of writing.
