Like any profession becoming good at sales copy writing is down to alot of practice and dedication. You must put aside enough time to practice and master the skills necessary to become an effective sales copywriter. Id you are really serious about making it as a copywriter or making it your new profession, the time you invest will be well worth it as the payoffs can be incredible.

The easiest way to get into it todaay would be to start studying as many free ebooks and articles as possible on the subject. You should also begin to conciously analyze all the sales letters you read and notice the style, grammar and methods used to persuade. There is nothing worse misspelled words everywhere and poor structured sentences and paragraphs.

Be sure to Read about recent trends in copywriting and study several pages. It also helps to pay more attention to what sells and watch television ads, Internet ads and brochures comparing and advertising products. Pay special attention to ads that others are talking about. Look at the ones that really catch on and start a fad or trend among groups of friends. The flipside of that is tudy the ads that really irriate people, yes they are irritating but the important thing is it sticks in their mind.


It is also necessary to study the different types of sales wording to find the field that you are most interested in.Perhaps you prefer to do local business ads compared to long sales letters. You need to find the style of ads and writng that most compells you and makes you feel interested.

Many advertising agencies expect you to have a university degree in a field related copywriting. A college education helps, but is not required. Degrees in English, Advertising, Journalism, Marketing and other related specialties are more appealing to companies that are prepared to give you a job in the are. Though all these degrees and grades arent necessary they certainly help if your after a job in the field, but are quite irrelevant if you want to work for yourself.

The most important thing in the subject though is work expierience. How do you go about getting experience in something you've never done? The answer is simple: being an intern. Internships are obtained in a real advertising agency and will help motivate you. Interns will also be given the opportunity to work on the most important thing you need to become a professional in teh sales copywritng field- it will help you to build a "portfolio" or a record of your work and skill levels.

As in many other fields, your portfolio is your first impression to potential prospects. As a practitioner, do not get paid to do any writing of sales letterss, but you will have the opportunity to start building your book. People who make a great portfolio and show their creativity are the first in line for a permanent seat on the job  when it opens.

So once you have it prepared, start knocking on doors and making calls. If working as a sales copywriter, you have to be a big seller. And the first thing you should know is how to sell yourself before you sell to others.
