When learn how to write persuasive copy the first thing you must realize is to be respectful of others time! Writing sales copy in many ways is much like composing a tweet on Twitter, you need to keep it short and to the point! Remember you are trying to persuade someone to take a specific action therefore you must quickly engage people and just as quickly make your point. You have little or no control over how long people may stay on your page therefore you need to state your business and fast!

Focusing primarily on the what, when and where of your message here are 3 suggestions you can use to write sales copy that is both concise and persuasive!

What

This is your offer where your focus will be mostly on the benefits readers can expect to experience if they take the actions you suggest. This is where you must quickly engage people since if they are not compelled to remain on the page they will never see your entire message nor be tempted to take action!

This portion of your content is the 'meat and potato's' but here too be mindful of staying on point and speak ONLY benefits.

When

Online it is always wise to communicate a sense of urgency as to when the reader should take action! Why, well that's simple, if they do not do anything while they are on your page you've lost them. Whether there exist a real deadline or not you MUST compel people to make their decision and do it now. The best way to persuade someone to make a decision is to impose time constraints on them or else they will postpone any action until it is too late. In this case being too late is when they leave your page!

Where

Communicate clearly to visitors where they should 'opt in' or place their order. Do not assume people will find where to do so on their own. Remember that when you engage people they are more likely to follow your every word! Do not feel you are treating them like idiots but rather consider it more like being a cordial host on your page! You are simply showing them where to do what it is you are compelling them to do! You are merely being helpful!

Learning how to write persuasive content which will compel others to take action is much like having a conversation in an elevator. You must learn to make your point(s) as fast as possible in order to persuade someone because most people will leave a page as quickly as they land on it! It is therefore a priority when writing sales copy that you engage people IMMEDIATELY or your message will never even be seen! The 3 suggestions offered above give you an outline of the points you want to focus on when writing sales content of any kind online. It is also suggested that once you have developed a 'rough draft' of the what, when and where of your message, to 'comb' through it once again to rid it of any needless fluff! To persuade someone it is generally only necessary to give them the 'facts' and leave the fluff for that book you want to author!
