Junior Copywriter Jobs - 5 Hidden Benefits You Need to Know!

Posted: Dec 22, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

One might think that being a copywriter is just your run-of-the-mill profession, but think again. As a copywriter you may not have the extra letters attached to your name as in doctors, lawyers or professors and the grandeur those letters entail but you have more perks than any of those three, with less the stress and pressure.

Perks! Imagine working and getting paid and it's just like a walk in the park. It's a job where just playing around earns you money.

Here are just five of the things that would make you think twice before you turn your back from this career.

1) Turn on your Wii and get paid.

Being a copywriter gives you some, if not all the time in the world to do your job. You can play your favourite video game or do some "social networking" on the web while at it. You may even get more inspired and improve your concept while doing your job in a leisurely pace. Some choose to work and finish early, or waste some not-so-precious time for a while then get to work, or do continual breaks and watch some videos on Youtube in between paragraphs of work.

A word of advice, just make sure you get to present stuff to your boss when he asks for them. Still, a little R and R won't hurt, which brings us to reason #2.

2) Being a couch potato is beneficial.

Watching your favourite movie or some low-budgeted flick may be of advantage. You may get inspirations and ideas for your concept by just sitting and pressing the remote to tune into HBO or going to the movies with soda and popcorn. As funny as it may sound, it may even be a requirement. Getting paid to watch movies, isn't that just grand? That's not what you're really paid for, but you can't be accused of slacking off work either.

3) No uniforms and stiff suits.

If you're allergic to formal suits, slacks and long-sleeves then you'll love this job. Think of a job that gives you the freedom of wearing anything you want - jeans, shorts, rubber shoes or even your birthday suit if you're into it, just make sure you won't get arrested.

You can look good, with your own style and do your job without worrying of spilling your coffee on a newly dry-cleaned suit.

4) It's like you're wearing a name tag that says "I'm COOL".

One of the best perks of being a copywriter is this - the word COOL written all over you. It may be synonymous to the attention given to a bungee jumper, a guitar-playing dude or a guy with an awesome tattoo. Being young and hip is always the trend. And if you're the bragging type you can tell your friends, "That ad was my idea."

5) Being a copywriter gets you into a competition, just like a sport, but something you didn't sign up for.

This may be the serious aspect of being a copywriter - competing against other advertising firms but then again if you're the competitive type, this really is the job for you.

Here are just five of the reasons why you should consider taking this job seriously (or not too seriously). And being the creative that you are, pretty surely you can discover more.

I must admit that there was a certain point in my life wherein I didn't know what career path to take. As a biology graduate, it wasn't easy for me to find a job that is related to my interests: media. After exchanging pleasantries when we bumped into each other, he invited me over for a cup of coffee. Never did i expect that the conversation that w...
