Writing Web Content: Why the Demand is So High in This Writing Niche
One thing that many people allow to put them off choosing a freelance career where they get paid to write SEO content is the fear that there is not enough demand for their services. It's easy to think about all the thousands of writers across the world earning money this way and feel that there is simply not enough work to go around.
You may even have heard that you have missed the boat and that there is no more work in this niche.
Scary stuff, no? But relax! The demand for SEO content is higher than ever before and it is only going to get higher in the years ahead.
Content is More Important than Ever
Back in March 2011, Google made a large change to its algorithm, and suddenly lots of websites found themselves falling down the rankings. This was because Google perceived their content to be low quality.
Traffic is big business, and when rankings drop, companies suffer. As a result, there has been a dedicated push towards the creation of higher-quality content as of late, and more companies than ever are realising that they need good quality content if they are to survive and thrive online.
Basic and Detailed Content: Both are In Demand
A lot of the work I do is writing short and fairly basic articles for my clients to use on article marketing directories, in their newsletters, on their blogs and in their social media profiles. Now, although I think of these as more basic, they are still high-quality articles. They are well written, they provide some information to the readers and they help to give the company a good name.
This type of content will always be popular because people like to access information in short chunks, and they are also cheaper for my clients to purchase from me.
However, there is not also a growing push towards longer, more comprehensive articles which take a lot longer to research, and sometimes many hours or even a day to complete. These obviously cost a lot more, but companies now know that they need this really high-quality stuff to succeed online.
But here's the thing: the demand for other content has not gone down at all.
I still get just as many orders for shorter, more basic articles, but now with the addition of longer, more complex articles as well. There is simply more work around than ever before!

Due to this massive demand for content, there will always be work for good writers. If you always meet your deadlines, if you write to a high quality, if you are quick to respond to emails and you take the time to market for clients, you WILL find work. Many writers end up hiring a team of writers to help them out because there is so much work going.
If you want a piece of the action then you simply have to take the plunge and go for it. There are many things that may put you off becoming a freelance writer, but don't let the worry about demand for your services be one of them.
