Total Oil and Neo Petcon join hands for a unique initiative for truck drivers
Ludhiana:Neo Petcon together with the French oil major TOTAL Oil have taken a unique initiative of setting up a Rural Facilitation Centre at Ghasera village in Haryana. The village has a population of about 25000 people and one unique feature of this village is that 90% of all adult males are truck drivers.
The rural facilitation centre offers several amenities to village residents. These include clean hygienic toilets & bathing facilities, purified cold drinking water and a laundry. The facilities are offered at nominal costs. The facilitation centre also sells seeds and fertilizers to villagers at competitive prices. In addition, the facilitation centre also stocks milk & milk products and lifestyle items like readymade garments, cosmetics. Previously villagers had to travel long distance to procure these items.

TOTAL has introduced in India, a similar additive AC2010A with components as used in Excellium, which has been optimized for the Indian market. TOTAL's AC 2010A has been tested and certified by International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, a top level Government of India institution, to show 6.3% fuel efficiency improvement in trucks. The Rural Facilitation Centre will offer TOTAL AC 2010A to drivers which will help them to create additional income of up to Rs.2500 to 3000 per driver per month from diesel saving.
The facility was recently inaugurated. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Philippe Charleux, Managing Director of TOTAL Additives & Special Fuels, France said that "TOTAL and Neo Petcon are very happy and proud to facilitate the drivers life with this initiative in Ghasera and launch the new additive AC2010A, which is specially designed for the Indian market."
Mr. Vinay Kumar Chairman of Neo Petcon in his welcome address informed the gathering that Trucks carry 70% of India's freight traffic, about 2400 million tonnes/year. India has a truck population of about 50 lakhs and approximately 80% trucks are operated by owner drivers or small fleet owners and there is an urgent need to recognize their contribution to the India's economic growth. Mr. Amresh Kapoor, General Manager of IOC was the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony.
Mr. Kapoor in his address indicated that IOC as the largest oil company in India, touches the lives of all sections in the very important truck transport segment. He congratulated TOTAL and Neo Petcon for the unique initiative.
