Along with other business and technology leaders, deeply interested in new strategic methods I attended several classes revolving business rules and new technology methods. Some of the most important things I learned after taking the class:
?
- How to develop and implement a new business rule adoption
- How business rules technology fits into my current technical architecture
- How to determine the level of my organization’s preparedness based on discussed business rules
- Define team composition including management, business and IT and how to define those roles, skills, availability, and responsibilities
?
My company had discussed several options for ways to change and improve on current business practices. After several hours of research, we came to the conclusion that a business rule engine seminar that was taking place in our area would be very beneficial to the success of our company. The seminar lasted 2 days with several different key-note speakers, lunch and a banquet at the end with a meet and greet hour.

Other Great Classes About Business Rule Engines
- Identify which rules are the best candidates for automation using a business rule engine
- Develop a plan to manage the culture change and its impact on the business resources, skills required, business process changes, and overall organization
- Identify and measure the return on investment (ROI) and return on expenditure (ROE) of a business rules initiative
- Identify other business areas within your organization that might benefit from business rules
- Identify the characteristics of a successful team/process/implementation
?
After the 2 day class, I felt like I had new glasses on. I was excited to take all of the valuable information I had learned from the classes and re-create my own week-long mini series of classes to my company. After learning about the ROI of new technology once implemented I knew our company couldn’t lose.
