Add glamour to your look with the Cheryl Cole alluring 'Smokey Eye' effect
False eyelashes have become this year's 'must have' beauty accessory. Cheryl Cole has been credited for the soar in sales of false eyelashes among other celebrities such as Jordan. Girls and women are all investing in false eyelashes to achieve larger and alluring looking eyes. Debenhams confirmed the trend via a press release stating that they reported seeing their sales of false eyelashes increase by over 1000% during the last year.
Alex Jones, celebrity makeup artist and stylist has supplied her tips on how to best use false eyelashes and how to achieve the 'Smokey Eye effect' to help you look as great as Cheryl Cole.
Follow the steps below to ensure your eyes are of celebrity glamour:
1. Apply a line of black kohl along the lash lines and then blend upwards and outwards at the outer corners of the eye.
2. Then blend a dark eye shadow into the eye crease and for added glamour, add a glitter eye shadow to the centre of the eyelids.
3. To brighten and open up the eyes, apply a light, pearlescent colour (white/cream) to the inside corners of the eyes. You can also apply a white liner to the inside bottom rim to really wake up the eyes.
4. Curl your lashes before applying false eyelashes this will make your lashes look more natural and also help them to blend in with the false eyelashes.
5. Apply long length mascara to make your eyelashes look even longer.
6. Finally apply some black false eyelashes for extra volume. Place the false eyelashes onto your eyelids to check they fit and are the desired length. If the false eyelashes are too long you can trim the ends with scissors. Apply a thin line of glue to the strips on the false eyelashes, leave for a few seconds until the glue becomes tacky but not so it dries. Place the eyelash on the outer side of your eyelid first and pat down to stick the lash to your eyelid. Alex Jones recommends using either an orange wood stick, tweezers or an eyelash applicator as this will help you get the false eyelashes as close to your eyelash line as possible. Hold the eyelash in place until you are confident that it has stuck securely.
Now you are ready to go out and party with your celebrity, 'Smokey' looking eyes. To further follow the trends of Cheryl Cole and Jordan you can also add some clip-in hair extensions to add more volume and thickness to your hair.
