How Does Sunlight Cause Freckles?

The natural Sunlight helps the body produce essential vitamin D and to some extend, stimulate red blood cell. However, too much sunlight is bad for us too. So to protect itself
from the harmful effects of the sun's UV rays, the melanocytes of the epidermis would release a dark pigment called melanin which either appears as a good tan if evenly produced, or unevenly which appear as freckles.

Do not be Frightened by Freckles!

But do not fear! Freckles are not considered harmless and some people even pray to  have freckles, although some can't wait to get rid of freckles. Their appearance is also an indication of the skin's inability to produce enough pigment for its protection. This is true in individuals with fair complexions, since they have little melanin pigment and should be wary of excessive exposure to the sun.

The appearance of freckles are usually not present at birth although there is a genetic link. But if you are predisposed to developing freckles, you do develop freckles in later years as a result of repeated sun exposure.
