It used to be that a day at the beach or pool was your only path to tan skin. Then popped up tanning salons offering a tan independent of current weather conditions. Today, it is possible to sun yourself in your own bed at home with portable sun lamps tanning.
Most people have quite hectic schedules these days. The luxury of sacrificing an hour out of the day for a trip to the tanning salon is not an option for many. One choice would be to install a professional, commercial grade tanning bed in your home. For most of us this would prove to be a real budget buster.
Thankfully, a more affordable option exists which doesn't take up any precious space within your home. A portable sun lamp is the perfect solution. You can use it in your home, at your office, or take it on the road with you to retain that tan even during a vacation in the snow. A quick tanning session will never be more than steps away.
Portable sun lamps can be quite inexpensive. Basic models are comparable in price to the cost of only a few hours at a tanning salon. More sophisticated models, however, can cost up to several hundred dollars. Several factors go into differentiating between basic and high end models. The first relates to size, weight, and style. The more compact and stylish ones tend to be slightly more expensive.
However, the main factor in determining quality is the ability to exclude UV-B rays. UV-A rays cause a nice tan. UV-B rays cause a nasty sunburn. The more expensive models of sun lamps are able to filter out UV-B rays reducing the chance of burning. To many, this extra expense is well worth that advantage.
Whichever model selected it should be recognized that tanning through exposure to any ultraviolet (UV) light has associated health risks. Many health experts are concerned that excessive use of tanning beds or lamps can add to skin health risks. Each person has different history and skin characteristics and should carefully consider all available information before deciding which type tanning is best for them.
Ironically, portable sun lamps can also have positive health effects. Not only can you receive a healthy tan, it has been documented that sun lamp therapy is very useful in treating both acne and shingles. Of course, one should only embark upon such therapeutic use under the guidance of a qualified health advisor.
Portable sun lamps tanning is a great alternative to trips to the tanning salon. Many resources are available to research various types and qualities of these lamps. Many options exist relating to wattage, size, style and technology. Whatever your need, whether it be therapeutic or recreational, the right lamp exists for you.
