Eyeliner and Mascara Application Tips

This can sometimes be very difficult to accomplish, especially for beginners. Unfortunately if eyeliner isn't applied properly, it can look terrible and ruin your entire appearance.

Liquid eyeliner is difficult to work because it can very easily splatter messily onto the eyelids, or on top of the cheeks. Although some women prefer the stunning looks that they can create with liquid eyeliners, most women prefer to use a pencil applicator instead.

When using your eyeliner pencil, always draw a line as close as possible on the outer rims around the upper and lower eyelashes. It's important to keep your eye pencils sharp, in order to create a precise line and to avoid dragging the skin. An automatic eye pencil doesn't require any sharpening and is a great alternative to the basic eye pencil. It's important to avoid applying eyeliner underneath your lower eyelashes if you look tired, or if there are any creases in this area. Any color that you apply will only accentuate your tired look, and will further emphasize your creases.

If your eyes are small, avoid lining the full length of the upper and lower eyelids. This will only make them appear smaller. Instead you can create the appearance of a wide-eyed look by lining the first third area of the outer eyes (upper and lower lids). Applying white eyeliner on the rims of the lower eyelids (slightly above the lashes and beside the eyeballs) also helps to make your eyes appear larger.

For daytime looks, the best eyeliner colors to use are classic brown, charcoal and grey; while black adds more definition and drama for evening glamour. Using the wrong color of eyeliner can also greatly increase the appearance of your age; therefore it's best to avoid using colored eyeliners at anytime, unless you're very young.

Your eyes are one of the most expressive features on your face; so even if you don't wear any other eye make-up, mascara is the most important item to use. Mascara finishes the look of the eye; it also helps to make the eyes appear naturally wider and more attractive by thickening and lengthening the lashes. It's one of the most popular make-up items, because it's quicker and

easier to use than most other types of eye make-up. Mascara is also available in a wide variety of colors, and comes in waterproof formulations that are safe for people with sensitive eyes (and contact wearers) to use.

Depending upon the brand of mascara you choose, there are brushes that are available in a variety of sizes and shapes. This is great if you want to experiment with different sizes and styles to help you achieve a specific look (e.g. more voluminous, longer or curlier lashes). Even if you've never worn any make-up before, mascara is a simple product that can be used to help accent your eyelashes, and create eye emphasis (therefore naturally drawing people's attention toward them). To create even greater attention toward the eye area, you can try using an eyelash curler before applying your mascara. This will greatly increase the appearance of a wide-eyed look.

By coating the entire length of the eyelashes, you'll make your lashes appear longer. To achieve this effect, simply wiggle the mascara brush gently at the base of the eyelashes before brushing it upward toward the end of the lashes. You can also make the eyelashes appear fuller by lightly dusting the lashes with powder. Be sure to comb the lashes with an eyelash comb, clean mascara brush, or old toothbrush (while they're still moist to avoid damaging them). This will separate the lashes and help prevent them from sticking together. For the best results, apply two coats of mascara and leave sufficient drying time between coats to prevent them from getting clumpy. If you have problems reaching the fine lashes at the corners of your eyes, you can gently use the tip of the mascara brush to lightly coat them.

Even when you're in a rush, by simply applying a single coat of mascara to the outer lashes of the eyes will greatly help to widen their appearance, and enhance your entire look. If your mascara has run dry you don't have to discard it; simply hold the container underneath hot water to dissolve it. This will help to provide you with a few more applications before having to shop for more!

Mascara and eyeliner are amazing products to use for enhancing your overall appearance; however they're notorious breeding grounds for bacteria. Make sure to change your eyeliner and mascara regularly. Replace them every 3-4 months maximum, and do not share them with your friends (or family members). This will help you to avoid getting any possible eye irritations or infections, and help make your future eye-liner/mascara applications pleasant and safe!

The exercise craze took on a life of its own during the 80s; complete with leg-warmers, bright tights, high-cut tight spandex body-suits, and colorful headbands. Layering was very popular.
