Skincare Essentials Guide

The key to younger, brighter looking skin is in understanding your skin type. Follow our skincare essentials guide to your perfect complexion.

Normal skin

Individuals with normal skin can experience flaking and tightness of the skin, especially after sun or wind exposure. This can occur due to underactive sebum production. This condition is eased by using correctly tailored products, and also by drinking lots of water and food with vitamin A, and omega 3s (found in oily fish). We recommend Burt’s Bees Orange Cleanser and Korres Wild Rose 24 hour Moisturiser.

We also recommend:

  • Korres Wild Rose 24 hr Moisturiser SPF 6
  • Murad Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser
  • Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser
  • Murad Lip Therapy SPF 15
  • Burt’s Bees Marshmallow Vanishing Cream

Combination skin

Combination skin has a tendency for oily patches in the T-Zone (forehead, nose and chin) and balanced skin in other areas. To combat this, your products need to be effective at clearing oil but not over drying the other skin areas. We recommend Korres Orange Blossom Daily Emulsion to cleanse your skin daily, and Lierac Facial Serum to boost skin vitality. Treat breakouts with Ole Henriksen Roll on Blemish Attack.

We also recommend:

  • Korres Orange Blossom Daily Emulsion
  • Lierac Concentre Mesolift Facial Serum
  • Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion
  • Lierac Aqua D + Refreshing Creme Gel
  • Ole Henricksen Roll on Blemish Attack

Dehydrated skin

Like normal/dry but more severe, if you suffer from dehydrated skin it will feel dry and taut all day. This is eased by application of suitable moisturisers and cleansers that are mild and do not strip the skin (tip. If after cleansing your skin feels very tight and ‘squeaky clean’ the product is probably too harsh). Avoid toners containing alcohol, we recommend Trilogy hydrating Mist Toner, which provides instant moisture for thirsty skin.

We also recommend:

  • MD Skincare Cleansing Foam
  • Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner
  • Lierac Hydra-Chrono Baume
  • John Masters Organic Hydrating Mask
  • Rose & Co Apothecary Rose Petal Salve

Oily skin

Oily skin occurs where there is excessive sebum production. This skin type may need more frequent cleansing than other skin types, and be prone to acne due to pores blocked by sebum. To treat breakouts, we recommend investing in a quality on the spot treatment such as Ole Henriksen Roll-on Blemish Attack. Murad Clarifying Cleanser is also great for daily cleansing.

We also recommend:

  • Murad Clarifying Cleanser
  • MD Skincare Hydra Care Oil- Free Moisture
  • Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Free Tonic
  • Korres Cinnamon and Natural Clay Deep Cleansing Mask
  • Ole Henriksen Roll-on Blemish Attack

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is a complex skin type similar to other types, e.g. dry, oily etc, but is prone to be delicate and easily irritated. This can be exacerbated by extreme temperatures and other environmental factors, and by reactions to highly scented or chemically enhanced products. Use a mild cleanser such as Murad Soothing Gel, combined with a light moisturiser like Nuxe Ultra Comfortable Face Cream which are kind to your skin.

We also recommend:

  • Nuxe Ultra Comfortable Face Cream
  • Murad Soothing Gel Cleanser
  • Ole Henriksen Skin Inhalation Therapy
  • Burt’s Bees Repair Serum Therapy
  • Korres Calendula Compound Cream for skin irritations

Mature skin

As skin ages, collagen and elastin, fibers that keep the skin firm, weaken. The skin looks loose and lax, becomes thinner, and loses fat, so that it looks less plump and smooth. We recommend products that combat the visible signs of ageing, such as Dr Lewinn’s Smoothing Complex Corrective Line Filler and Aromatherapy Associates Instant Skin Firming Serum designed to compliment your daily skincare routine.

We also recommend:

  • Korres anti-ageing Olive & Rye night cream
  • Dr Lewinn’s Line Smoothing Complex
  • Lierac Stimulating & Firming Beauty Lift Mask
  • Burt’s Bees Rosewater & Glycerin Toner
  • Barefoot Botanicals Rosa Fina Cleanser
