Women's Perfume - Getting it Right

Posted: Sep 22, 2009 |Comments: 0 |

Although you may not be aware of it, your skin is undergoing constant changes. In part this is caused by various factors which include those of diet, weather conditions, mood (yes, even mood swings affect your skin) and cigarette smoke too can affect the quality of your skin.

Changing stress levels can also change the skin which will then change the aroma of your perfume. With a rise in stress levels, the body heats up and the skin then tries to eliminate the heat by way of perspiration or sweat. However, if there is a large amount of perspiring then the aroma given off by the perfume will not last long at all

Thus not only does the body affect the potential of a perfume but the condition of the skin does also. If you have dry skin then you will find your perfume does not last as long as somemone with moist skin. In which case its wise to moisturize your skin before applying your perfume.

Regardless of a moisturizer being used though, there are few perfumes that will last the whole day and into the night, so you will generally need to re-apply at least once in the day.

In general the application of perfume tends to be to the wrists and to the area behind the ear lobes. This is fine and a good place to apply perfume but there are other places you may wish to try. Behind the knees, in the crook of the arms, at the base of the throat and between the breasts are all good places because they are warm areas of the body and thus help to increase a perfumes aroma.

To ensure your perfume lasts longer, its a good idea to apply a little petroleum jelly before the application of your perfume. This gives the perfume a moist base which improves its durability.

Do not though put your perfume into your hair or onto your clothes. By doing so you will be mixing the perfume with shampoos and conditioners or with detergents used to launder your clothes. These products will affect the "ability" of the perfume.

If you do like to have your clothing smelling nicely of perfume then why not soak your under garments in some water with a little perfume added. Thus the aroma permuates the undergarments where there are no other chemicals to affect the aroma.
