3 Stitching Tips for More Efficient Digitizing

Posted: Oct 05, 2009 |Comments: 0 |

In our quest for faster embroidery digitizing, without eliminating the quality of the resulting artwork, the embroidery craft industry has been looking at ways and means to digitize more efficiently. Working on computerized embroidery without wasting time and effort on tasks that are not really significant can help us in utilizing our efforts in more important aspects. Efficient digitizing will also mean more time to work on more embroidery, which would mean more products and more profit.

We can see how there can be some inefficiencies, and therefore wasted time and effort, in digitizing. There is already a lot of inefficiencies in manually embroidering embroidery designs with the excessive stitches, unimportant trims, and other things. Embroidery digitizing was created in order to speed up the embroidering process, and also to eliminate these wasteful tasks. Now we will tackle how to improve on digitizing for more efficiency in the craft.

Trim out unnecessary trims. A thread time is estimated to be take about 7 seconds. Putting all the trims you'll be making for a design, the total would be minutes wasted. The solution to this is to properly plan your design wherein you can cut down the thread trims to its minimum. Trims are necessary to keep your work clean, so we really need to know which ones should stay and which ones will have to go.

Extend the default stitch length in fill patterns. The default settings of your digitizing software may be set too low. Extending it will make the stitch count drop, and reducing the stitch count helps you save time in embroidery digitizing. The default stitch length is usually at 3 to 4 mm. Extending it to 5 mm or higher will not change anything but the drop in the stitch count. Not to mention it also helps in the overall look of the design because it does not have many stitches packed in an area.

Use horizontal stitches over vertical stitches when you can. Vertical stitching goes with the pattern of many fabrics, and when the fabric is stretched the vertical stitches is pulled apart. This makes it look as if the design does not have enough stitches. With horizontal stitching, however, the design is still covered when stretched since the stitches prevents the rows of the fabric from pulling apart. This allows your design to stay connected even when stretched. It also allows you to keep your stitch density lower.

There are more tips on how to make digitizing more efficient. A lot of experts have studied and have improved on their working times to make the craft easier and faster, without ruining the quality of the design. Conclusively we can say that we have to reduce the overall stitch count, and there are many ways to do that with digitizing software today.

Working more efficiently is a needed improvement in order to save more time to make more designs and gain more profit. In the business of embroidery designs, this is significant as it can improve the business and the industry. Efficiency is certainly needed in any business, of which embroidery digitizing is no exception.

They were first class cloths interwoven by the very hands of man.
