Since it was quite tiring to create so many cards for all, Sir Henry Cole decided to take help of his artist friend for the dilemma he was in. John Calcott Horsley, Sir Henry's friend created elegant designs for greeting cards and said that those needed to be created in thousands. Subsequently copies of the card in thousands were printed. Therefore those were the first commercially made cards. Thence the trend of such cards took up quickly and many were decorated with glitters. In 1875, Louis Prang initiated printing of traditional Christmas cards to be made available in the U.S. which people bought to wish each other.
