Oil Candles
Plenty of people find oil candles so pretty. When used as décor they can actually liven up and change the mood in a room. While most think it is difficult to make them, the truth is it is quite simple.
Oil candles are made of liquid paraffin oil, oil candle wick, thermal glass wick tube, adapter adjustment ring, jar or bottle, and decoration and fragrance of your choice. You can buy these, inexpensively, at your local arts and crafts store or on the Internet. As for the containers, you can use any beautiful bottle or jar that you already have at home.
You will need a few basic tools to prepare your oil candle. A funnel will help you pour the oil into your jar or bottle. If you want to decorate the container with glitters or like materials, you will need a pair of scissors, knife, and perhaps a glue gun. You may also want to lay old newspapers on your work table to avoid messing it up.
Once you have all the materials and tools, you can begin your work of art. After cleaning and decorating the container and drying it thoroughly, pour the liquid paraffin oil into it leaving a few millimeters below the rim for the wick to protrude. Use the funnel if it has a narrow opening. Pour in your potpourri, flowers, marbles, pebbles, or any other decoration you wish, and let them settle.
While waiting, insert the oil wick into the thermal glass wick tube, leaving about a quarter of an inch protruding above the tube. Place this tube into your container. If necessary, use an adapter adjustment ring to properly position the tube.
Let it stand for five or ten minutes to allow the oil to saturate the wick. After this, get your match or lighter, light the candle up, and enjoy your masterpiece.
