3 Questions You Must Ask About Credit Repair Firms

In these times of economic uncertainty there is a huge demand for credit repair, but before you hand over any money, there are 3 questions you must ask first...

Firstly, you must make sure that you are not paying for a service that you can just do yourself. It may be that you just don't want to do the letter writing yourself, and are happy to pay someone to do it - fair enough if that's the case, but it's important to check if you are expecting the service you pay for to be more extensive than that. A lot of companies will simply send out stock letters that have little chance of any notable effect - you could have done it yourself, but they will happily charge you for it.

Secondly, you must ask the company how long it will take to repair your credit, and what end result they guarantee.

There is a good reason for this - if the company guarantees a timescale, that is illegal, and should be an immediate red flag as to the type of business you are dealing with! Bear in mind that a company nonetheless has to give an average timescale. It's also illegal to guarantee a certain rise in credit score - a reputable company will do no more than guarantee the removal of the negative items.

The third question you must ask when thinking about a credit repair company is to see some testimonials. Any decent company will have a quantity of recent satisfied customers, particularly in the current economic climate.

If the company cannot, or will not show you testimonials, that's enough for you to start looking at another company! With so many different choices, these 3 simple questions will help to narrow down the field of companies worthy of taking your money to repair your credit.
