Experian Dispute - How to Remove Bad Credit

To dispute Experian you must compose a credit dispute letter and mail it to them. Upon receipt of your letter they will investigate the disputed item.

The first step though is to get a copy of your credit report. You can get a free credit report once a year from each credit bureau. I suggest you go to annual credit report, they will provide you with your free copy.

Once you have received your credit report you need to identify what marks are incorrect. These are going to be the marks that you will dispute.

You will dispute the items by creating your sample dispute letter and mailing it to Experian credit bureau. Once they receive your letter they will determine if it is valid or invalid.

If your dispute is considered invalid you will get a letter from them requesting additional information about the dispute. You need to respond and provide them with the information requested.

However if your dispute is found valid they will conduct an investigation. During an investigation they will contact the creator of the listing and ask them to verify the account, the dates, and the amounts.

Frequently an investigation will result in the removal of a bad credit item. This happens because many businesses are not going to spend the time or money verifying a disputed debt.

A credit repair service can also be hired to remove negative credit from your report. With this option you only need to identify the marks you wish to dispute and the service will do the rest.

In case an item is verified then a credit repair service can be very helpful because they have advanced dispute techniques. These include; creditor direct intervention, escalated dispute information requests, and debt validation.

I suggest do it yourself credit repair if you have only minor damage on your report, however if you have multiple marks I suggest a credit repair service. I also suggest a service if you are having trouble submitting a valid dispute or you have had a mark verified that should be removed.

Be aware that you must send a dispute letter to each credit bureau. If you do not you may remove a negative mark from your Experian credit report however this mark will still be on your Equifax and Transunion credit report.

In sum negative items can be removed from your credit report. You do not have to live with the high cost of low credit.

Hey Rob,

It sounds like you have been sending a dispute letter to the bureaus every 45 days? Once you send one letter you should wait to hear from them. They will respond.

You can dispute all three bureaus at the same time, but wait for a response. They may not be investigating because of your repeated dispute letters. Don\'t worry it is a common mistake.

You have two options to move forward.

1. You can hire a professional to fix your credit report. You can do this at a reasonable cost $39/mo + 99/mo account set up. Will take roughly 6-12 mo.

I suggest this route if you have more than one item you need to remove.

Call 1-866-246-7311 for a free credit consultation.

2. Continue to dispute the bureaus yourself. Visit http://www.youcancreditrepair.com/index1 this is a free tool where you can input your data.

Then you print the letter and mail it to each bureau. Then wait for them to respond.

Good luck

question I have disputed several items on my credit and they neither validated the negative credit nor did they remove the items . I have disputed these items for the last 4 months with no removals. I have not only challenged the reporting agancies but the creditors as well. So my question is why have they not been validated or removed . Is there a good letter i can have or copy to get these items removed that have not been validated . I was under the inpressions that if they have not been validated they must be removed and this has been going on consistanly since October 2008 and it is now Feb. 2009 i have challenged these items faithfully every 45 days . I havent even recieved any updated reports from the credit bureaus. Any suggestions or advise ... thnx have a great day ... Rob
