How about dumping credit score?
If you've ever tried to apply for personal finance or loan, you're well aware of what credit score is. Not only that, simply registering for utilities or mobile phone will most often have the company perform a background check to make sure you're trustworthy. What would happen, however, if you stopped your efforts to improve credit history and refused to use all services that rely on this type of check? Let's have a look.
No loan, no cry. The lack of any credit facilities what-so-ever would definitely make you think twice about any expense. The world where you can only rely on yourself and your own savings is cruel and unforgiving, but that's a price to pay for not following the standards of modern society.
No personal finance, less worries. Depending of your job and wages, the majority of consumer goods may be a bit more distant than before. High definition TV and home cinema system may unfortunately be out of reach - but it's alright, after all, you wouldn't be able to get any decent cable TV package anyways. Not without having your credit score checked.
Purchase of your own car can also be postponed a lot. Remember, a decent car costs quite a lot but it's not all the money you're expected to fork out. There's also insurance and since you disapprove credit, get ready to pay the whole annual amount up-front. If I were to buy a car, the first thing to check would be my credit score.
Pay as you go, the way to go. You may have already noticed that some contract services, like mobile phones for example, tend to be less expensive than their pay as you go counterparts. It does not matter for you however, since most mobile and broadband services outside of the PayG scheme require credit check during the application.
Forever renting. The dream of owning your own property may indeed remain just that - a dream. With constantly rising prices even a lifelong saving will not be enough to buy a house, since money in your account may not keep up with the inflation. Really the only way is either to become really wealthy and buy with cash or joint up with a few like minded people and buy the property together. Unfortunately the latter defeats the idea or owning you ‘own' house.
As you can see, the modern society required everyone to hold a decent credit score and those who find it hard to keep their financial commitments are punished almost immediately.
