Credit counselling can be a great solution for you. Part of the draw to Credit Counsellors is the fact that many are not for profit agencies, so you will not be paying out extensive amounts of money for their assistance. They will help with your budget and debt management plan so that creditors will actually work with you and see that you are taking positive action in repaying your debts and securing your future.

Now you may be asking what exactly is a debt management plan. This is a plan formulated with you, your creditors and your counsellor to help you pay off your debt. Oftentimes your counsellor will actually be able to work with the creditors to get you a reduced interest rate or even a reduction in debt owed. Your counsellor will assist you in confirming your eligibility for debt reduction. This is determined by your income, debt owed, monthly expense and other factors your counsellor will cover with you. If you are eligible you work out a plan which the counsellor will present to your creditors.

Either way, you are on your way to becoming debt free by taking the first action and realizing your have a debt problem and you need help. You will quickly find putting a credit counsellor to work for you is one of the best choices you can make for your financial well being.
